Jennifer
Mackie first learned about the power and effectiveness of massage
therapy after seeking treatment to relieve the low back pain she
suffered as a young student. She
was drawn to study sports and massage at Fareham College in Hampshire,
England while living there and on her return to Canada decided to
further her knowledge in the field and become a Registered Massage
Therapist. She graduated in June
2003 from the three year Diploma Program from the Okanagan Valley
College of Massage Therapy.
Jennifer is a licensed member of the College of Massage Therapists and of the Massage Therapy Association of British Columbia with post-graduate certification and interest in Women’s Health, with a particular focus on The Childbearing Year: before, during and after pregnancy care. With the use of a specialized body cushion in treatment so that Moms-to-be can feel comfortable and supported while receiving massage care before and after the birthing journey, she works with you to relieve the sometimes strenuous symptoms of carrying and caring for your new baby (or babies!).
Years of experience working with people from many different walks of life, ages and backgrounds, she continues to enjoy meeting and treating people who seek the valuable benefits of massage therapy, tailoring each treatment in order to achieve specific goals for the individual by using a combination of trigger point /neuromuscular, myofascial , muscle energy, osteopathic techniques, and swedish massage.
When she is not in the clinic, Jennifer is practising yoga, playing outdoors, pursuing studies, teaching post-graduate workshops and spending time with her family and friends in the place she feels very fortunate to name her home community, Port Moody.
Looking forward to working with you toward health and wellbeing, Jennifer is available for patients on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-6pm. Appointments can be made at Ray Clinic 604.461.7900 or info@rayclinic.ca.
